Film Crew

Producer:  Person that is in charge of the film and scheduling the shots and work day and has to have the vision and drive to get the project done. I think that i would be good at this because last year i wrote and created a short film and co-produced it. And besides from all the stress that came with the job it was rewarding and fun and defiantly something that i would do again.

Director: A creative person who is good at painting pictures when telling stories and this job is usually very stressful and they have a say in most of what goes into the final product. I believe that i would thrive because of my imagination and the way that i like to add little easter eggs in a lot of work for people that understand my way of thinking and humor. And i also have experience co-directing a project last year.

Cinematographer:  The person that is in charge of how the final project will turn out. The person who has the most experience and knowledge the camera should do this job. I am a little hessitant on this job because i have little experience in this area and have been co-cinematographer but my partner was more familiar so took over mostly with the exception of my input. But i do think that as the year goes on and i become more versed in the way everything works and i will become better.

Editor:  The editor is in charge of piecing together the film once it is shot and polishing up the shots to make them flow better. The group member that is the most familiar with final cut pro and has a good eye for what looks best should do this job. This job isn't my favorite thing to do but if i am needed to do it then i will. I have more experience in this area than most of the the other jobs of the film crew but i think that i am not as familiar with this as i am with producer and director.

Project manager:  The manager is the supervisor of the crew that deals with the constraints of the project managment triangle which include cost, time, scope, and quality. I do not know how i would be in this role because it is brand new to me. But i am willing to try it if nobody wanted to fill that position.

Understanding Codecs

First off, Codec stands for compressor/decompressor which is pretty much how to make a file smaller or to work with it, edit it, or display it. some are owned and some are for free and so some computers don't have codecs installed. There are different types of codecs used for different situations, such as... Capture codec: which is what your camera is capturing. Codec deals with images and colors and the clarity of pictures and videos.

Camera Techniques

Whip pan, Whip cut- where the camera is focused on one subject then all of a sudden quickly pans to a new subject in another location but in the same room

Whip, Zoom look- When it is a either a close up or a wider shot then quickly either zooms in or out on the subject to mess with the viewers eyes.

Search Up- used to get a full body look of a character either from head to toe or vise versa

Back to front- when some thing goes far away from the camera then the next shot is that thing close to the camera from the other side

Focus out, pass out- the final moments before a character loses consciousness from the point of view of the character

Focus transition- When the viewer is focused on a single spot on the screen then everything else around the character becomes blurry or vise versa

Overexpose Fade, underexposed fade-  when the character is barely visible either because everything is very bright or very dim

Ceiling twist- when the camera is pointing up and spinning in circles sometimes from the point of view of the character

Shifting angles-  The camera is constantly changing angles in different ways and make the viewer a little sick. usually the angles are from left to right but sometimes can be up and down

Sleepover-  The camera is from a birds eye view and rotates slowly and is most used when the character isn't conscious or asleep

Plot vs. Story response

I believe that i sort of agree with Martin Scorsese in the sense that if a film is really well done with the shots and emotion and acting i would be more interested in watching it as a film fan. But if the acting was poor and it was dry and emotionless then it would bore me no matter how well it was written and how many plot twists and turns there were. Yes both are important but if i were forced to take a side on the matter then i would choose the development and editing rather than who is in it and the story.

The final project for graphic design was to incorporate everything we have learned into one project and also by using all the adobe programs we have spent time in which includes adobe photoshop, illustrator, and indesign. On this project i tried to meet criteria by including a picture that represents each of the strands and also some that are for all of the strands and the entire ecommunication as a whole. And i think the pictures of the roar video really capture the creative freedom that you get to have by being in this 21st century program and also the fun that comes from school wide events. And i included the coveted emagine awards which is what everyone should strive toward receiving.

Logo blog

Above is my final logo that i decided on
The process that i took from my first logo design last year to this year is quite long rigorous and adventurous. First i decided to expand on a logo that i started last year in E-9 for the time that we had in graphic design with a lightning bolt coming out of a crown and that was really symbolic and hard to let go for me personally. But once i stepped out of my comfort zone of messing around and tweaking the old logo i decided to sort of play around with things that i could do with my name since i am in fact branding myself and so that is my own and nobody else's so i decided i would get rid of colors in my logo and stick to black and white because in my opinion it is more professional and easier to look at and associate with. Then if need be for certain occasions i could go back and edit the colors sorta like what Google does with theirs for holidays. So i could see myself making the negative colors red and the outside ring green and then the inside ring yellow if i wanted to do something for christmas on a card or a website during the holidays then go back for example. And i was also sort of drawn to the simplicity of it.

New Star Wars blog

I had done a previous blog showcasing the difference between my blog and Saul Bass's movie posters and mine was called into question and rather than be caught up in the drama and stress of having to explain my case and argue i use the exact same skills i did the first time and create another movie poster with the same theme and ideas but different characters.

Kerning Game

There is a new sensation sweeping the nation! Its called Kerning! The idea of Kerning is moving and positioning letters in words so that they are visual appealing to the viewer. The origin of the word kern is from the french word carne, which means "projecting angle, quill of a pin"Kerning has been around ever since the days when letters was cast metal but back then Kerning only referred to manufacturing the sorts with the kerns. But now a days it is all done digitally. And a computer game has come out called the Kerning game where you move the inside letters of words till you think they are spaced correctly then you proceed to see if you are right and graded out of 100 points and after 10 attempts you   are given an overall grade out of 100 again as seen below.

E-magine

E-Communication isn't just just about videos or making logos and websites. It is about having an opportunity to do something that you enjoy and also about doing something that can carry you throughout life. Once a year there is an award show where the best of the best in all of the comm strands gather and dress elegantly and showcase their talents. Not only does the trophy they hand out for winning look spectacular but the winner benefits from having that on their resume for colleges to see. This year competition was tough as there were many submissions that were worthy of being the winner but of course only one could. So make sure you come out next year to the festival and maybe you too can be a winner.

Here i am before the show with the Fabulous Jessica Richards

My poster vs Saul bass's posters

Saul Bass's Poster
                          My poster

My poster vs Saul Bass's poster is very similar in how we both utilized the empty space to create a shape to show something that hints at the story. I chose Jango Fett because he is one of my favorite star wars characters and is first introduced in the 1977 Star Wars the empire strikes back. I also knew that Fett looks intimidating with his helmet and i knew it would be cool with just his shadow. and i tried to make the backround simple and also use the colors that i think represent the movie with the colors of the light sabers in the movie.

Google History

The google logo has been ever changing but still remaining the same since it was drawn in 1998. The first logo was designed and Ruth Kedar and he based it off of the woodwork typeface. The website now has had many various modifications or humorous features, such as cartoon modifications of their logo for use on holidays, birthdays of famous people, and major events like the olympics. These special logos are designed by Dennis Hwang and have become known as Google Doodles. In 1998, Surgey Brin created a computerizes version of the google letters using the free graphics program. Then an exclamation point was added but then removed because of controversy saying that they copied the yahoo website. They chose primary colors as their colors but then added one secondary color to show that they do not play by the rules. In 2010 they changed their logo and made the letters look 3D and titled the O's and made the letters skinnier.

Here is a visual of the transformation of the Google logo

Quarter 3 Final

The things that i value reveal my personal story by allowing others to see how and what i feel and think about certain things in life. For instance football is something that i really value, by people knowing that i value football lets them know that i am hardworking, and that i am good with working with other people and that i am athletic. By people knowing that i value my friends will know that i am a friendly person and fun to be around and that i am incredibly blessed to have my crazy friends whom i love so much.

Nurmen Museum of Contemporary Art

Thursday Mrs. Lofquist's 2nd hour graphic design took a field trip to the Nermen Museum of Contemporary Art.
The exhibits that caught my eye and that i found interesting was the room by Dylan Mortimer. I really liked how he chose to incorporate religion into his works and how he made the viewer think about it and was subtle about it. And also i think it was really cool how the lights that the work had was motion censored.
The next exhibit that i found interesting were the works that Kaws did. I believe that what he did was more original that any of the other art that i viewed and to me there was a darker side to his work that i really enjoyed and i also enjoyed the lighter side of the work of how the characters that he modeled his works after were characters that most people are familiar with as in Snoopy, Spongebob, or Mickey Mouse.
Finally the last thing that i liked at the Nurmen was a picture by Zach Balber of a man that was misunderstood and not accepted and just wanted to fit in and i feel as if myself and many others could relate to the message of the the picture and how he felt.
